Advocacy
Focuses on public policy and political engagement.

"If Real Estate is Your Profession, Politics is YOUR Business!" 

Members review national, state, and local public policy issues affecting the real estate industry and members of Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® and make recommendations, in coordination with the Government Affairs Director, to the Board of Directors on key issues.

Two-year term.

Members educate the membership on the importance of the REALTOR® Political Action Committee (REALTOR®PAC or RPAC), its successes, and what it does for REALTORS® and property owners and recommend new methods to assist with these efforts. Members also educate the membership on the levels of RPAC investment and engage in fundraising through direct collections, phone banks, and coordination of any RPAC functions.

Charity Tournaments
Organizes events that raise funds for scholarships and disaster relief funds.

Members plan, organize, and host a bowling tournament in the winter months. Planning includes venue, menu, sponsors, team recruitment, volunteers, donations, prizes, and promotion plans with proceeds benefiting OBAR’s Scholarship and Disaster Relief funds held with the Outer Banks Community Foundation.

Members plan, organize, and host the Annual Golf Tournament. Planning includes venue, menu, sponsors, team recruitment, volunteers, donations, prizes, and promotional plans with proceeds benefiting OBAR’s Scholarship and Disaster Relief funds held with the Outer Banks Community Foundation.

Members plan, organize, and host the annual Surf Fishing event including location, schedule, judges, donations, prizes, teams, sponsors, volunteers, and promotion plans with proceeds benefiting OBAR’s Scholarship and Disaster Relief funds held with the Outer Banks Community Foundation.

This committee recommends to the Outer Banks Community Foundation (OBCF) candidates to be awarded scholarships from the OBAR Scholarship Fund.

Membership Services
Enhances member engagement, outreach, and support programs.

Members evaluate new member opportunities; recruit new memberships, both REALTOR® and Community Partner; recruit REALTOR® sponsors; coordinate outreach to new members; produce an annual membership survey; and recommend/develop new member programs and services as needed.

Members identify and recognize the excellent volunteer work that REALTORS® are doing in the community and select a recipient for the Kim Endre Good Neighbor Award presented at General Membership Meetings.

Operations and Oversight
Oversees the Association's policies, finances, and MLS operations.

Members draft revisions or amendments to the OBAR Bylaws and/or OBAR Policy Manuals as necessary.

Members are responsible for preparing an annual budget; monitoring yearly income and expenditures; and identifying opportunities for non-dues revenue.

Members oversee the operation of the MLS and implement the MLS Rules & Regulations, under the guidance of the Board of Directors and according to the provisions of the NAR Multiple Listing Rules and Regulations.

Professional Development
Provides educational opportunities and resources to support member growth and success.

Members are responsible for providing ongoing, quality educational programs for the membership. This includes CE courses, REALTOR® certifications and designations, non-CE opportunities with YPN and the Property Management Council, topics for the General Membership Meetings, and BIC Breaks.

I would like to join this committee

The Property Management Planning Committee is an arm of the Property Management Council. Members schedule speakers and presenters for the monthly meetings and other professional development forums aimed at educating property managers on all community and local issues that affect their industry.

This committee does not meet from May through August to accommodate property managers.

Members plan and organize events/meetings to help real estate professionals excel in their careers by giving them the tools and encouragement to become involved in four core areas: REALTORS® Association, real estate industry, peers, and community. 

YPN functions are open to all REALTORS® and Community Partners of all ages.

Professional Standards and Ethics
Ensures adherence to ethical practices and handles arbitration and complaints.

Members review ethics complaints and arbitration requests to determine if they should be forwarded for Hearing. 

Three-year term.

Members interpret the Code of Ethics, address inquiries about enforcement, and recommend amendments as needed. Committee members may also serve on hearing panels for ethical complaints or arbitration. 

Members must complete annual professional standards training by the end of the second quarter, except certified trainers who are exempt.
