As announced in the NCREC’s September 2024 Bulletin, new Human Trafficking Awareness requirements will take effect July 1, 2025, impacting those who manage or operate short-term rental properties.

The law will require certain actions and/or postings to help prevent human trafficking in North Carolina; however, specific details from the Department of Labor about the mandatory training have not yet been released. OBAR is closely monitoring the situation and will share updates as more guidance becomes available.
